A Winning Tradition

At Plano Senior, our school consistently produces results. Within the last 20 years, Plano Senior has won the TFA state 15 times. We have produced a plethora state-winners in a vast variety of events, including in Public Forum Debate, Congressional Debate, Extemporaneous Speaking, Dramatic Interp, Original Oratory, Humerous Interp, and much more.

By utilizing the same techniques and strategies we implement within our classroom settings, the Wildcat Speech & Debate Camp will assure substantial improvements in the respective abilities of attendees. Our proven staff has a vast background of experience within Speech & Debate and are able to aid our attendees and assure we put our students and attendees down the correct path.

Debate - Argumentation

Learn how to formulate and utilize proper argumentation skills through several drills, teachings, and techniques.

Train your communications skills to master the art of speaking by decreasing fluency breaks while maximizing time allocation during speeches.

Learn to forumlate and execute your ideas for speeches/plays that will aid you in constructing the perfect performance to win tournaments.

The Camp Experience


Mentors

The Wildcat Speech & Debate Camp provides the opportunity to have a learning environment with highly-qualified instructors and several opporuntities for one on one instruction. Instructors are trained and experienced in their respective events and are determined to aid students to succeed and aquire proper communication skills that will aid students in their careers within Speech & Debate

Practice

The Wildcat Speech & Debate camp provides hours of practice and hands-on training that will allow students to perform, work in front of their peers and instructors, and garner the experience of competition and tournaments.

Directors & Staff

  • Cheryl Potts

    Debate coach at both Clark HS and Plano Senior HS, Mrs. Potts has an astonishing coaching resume. Having been inducted into the Texas Forensic Association Hall of Fame in 2012, she has amassed 15 TFA State Championships in the past 20 years. Her students have advanced to the UIL 5A State Championships in each of the last 17 years & include 6 UIL State Champions. Ms. Potts has qualified over 111 students to the NSDA Tournament.

  • Sara Zinck

    Oral interpretation coach at Plano Senior HS, Mrs. Zinck is returning to Speech and debate as a coach after spending a decade directing theatre at Keller HS. Mrs. Zinck began her love affair with the craft of Oral Interpretation as a high school competitor in West Texas and continued through college at West Texas A&M University. Mrs. Zinck is working with her talented squad of actors to continue the tradition of excellence at Plano Senior.

  • Neal White

    Neal White graduated from Lake Travis High School in 2011, where he competed in Extemporaneous Speaking, Public Forum, Original Oratory, and Congressional Debate. A top-fifteen finisher in the Extemp National Points Race and NFL semifinalist in high school, Neal went on to serve as a public speaking consultant for his alma-mater throughout college, coaching multiple state finalists and state champions in a variety of events.
